“Are create covers good for a puppy?” This is a common question that I get asked from many new puppy owners. They are often confused by the idea that a puppy crate covers is only a luxury to keep their puppy safe and comfortable. In actuality there are many benefits to puppy crate covers and they are not just for looks.
The first benefit to having a puppy crate cover is that your puppy will be less likely to chew on furniture or on household appliances. Puppies love to put things in their mouths and a puppy crate is just the perfect place for them to do this. You may find that over time your puppy will chew furniture and appliances because it is there to keep them safe. When you remove the puppy crate cover, they will go right back to what they were doing.
If you have a puppy that hasn’t been spayed or neutered and you want to take her to the veterinarian to be checked out, then removing the puppy crate cover will make it very easy to tell if she has any kind of health problem. If you notice blood in her urine or stool this is a sign that she is not feeling well and you need to get her checked out immediately. If you don’t you could possibly cause her to develop an infection and end up costing you tons of money for medication and vet care. It’s better to be safe than sorry when it comes to puppy health.
Another reason to use puppy crate covers is that puppies love to run around and snuggle in them. This creates a safe haven for them, where they feel safe and secure. When you take them out every couple of hours they can run around and get into trouble. If you have a puppy crate cover their chances of getting into trouble are reduced dramatically.
Most people think of puppy crate covers as puppy-proof. While this is true it’s not the only thing that should be considered. The area needs to be kept free of odors to discourage potential problems with your puppy’s bad breath. Having some kind of a door on the puppy crate will allow air to flow in and out and keep smells at bay as well.
The idea of using a puppy crate cover isn’t just to keep your puppy safe. Using one also gives you a place to go when you’re taking your puppy outside and she gets nervous or feels cold. Having a puppy crate gives you a nice area to sit and relax while waiting for your puppy to catch on that you’ll take her outside eventually.
Some puppy crate covers are made of cloth, which means you will have to deal with the cleaning a little more often than if you were using one of the plastic options. Another option is to use one of those that attach to the side of the puppy crate. These will usually need to be washed after each use. These are more convenient as you don’t have to worry about washing them or even remembering to do so.
Keep in mind that while the puppy crate cover is a great tool, it doesn’t mean you have to use it exclusively. Putting your puppy in there when she’s getting a little rowdy may be a good way to get her to calm down in the long run. You never want to leave her in there all day though since she can get seriously hurt if you do. Keeping a clean puppy crate in the back yard is a great idea as well.
