The Best Technique to Teach Your Dog to Stop Pulling

Teaching your dog to follow you or other members of your family is a good technique to teach the dog to come. The idea behind this technique to teach your dog to come is to connect the dog’s mental pictures or thoughts of being near you with pleasant and safe behavior. This will make dogs more likely to come when called by you. If you can teach your dog to follow you in a positive way, you will have achieved your goal of teaching him how to come when called. Teaching your dog this technique to train your dog to come is not hard to do and can be achieved easily.

First, it is important for you to know the different ways dogs behave so that you can modify or stop undesirable behaviors. Most dogs are naturally obedient, but there are some who tend to be stubborn and disobedient. Dog obedience training is usually designed for these kinds of dogs. It helps the owner to train dogs to have better control over their behaviors. Training your dog to come may not be necessary all the time but for many dogs, this technique is very helpful. You may use the following techniques when you want to teach your dog to come when called.

The first training technique to teach your dog to come when called is called the circle cue training technique. This training technique was developed by the American Kennel Club in order to help dogs that were either loose or were constantly running around. The circular cue symbol resembles a football, which is placed on the ground in a position that is not dangerous to the dog. Your dog is required to stand still at the spot where the cue is placed and cross his legs over his chest. You must keep your body and legs fairly straight while walking your dog.

Another training technique to teach your dog to come when called is the sit command. In this command, your dog must sit down. Your dog has to be relaxed and should not be stressed out as he must remain perfectly still while you are calling him to come.

A more complicated command to teach your dog to come is the stay command. This command requires that your dog remain sitting down after you have called him. However, your dog must not jump off the chair. You can try to train your dog to stay by simply repeating the command in a loud, clear voice until he learns it. This is also a good technique if your dog likes to jump up on people.

An easy command to teach your dog to come is the down command. Your dog must lie down and you must call him to you. Your dog will soon know that if he drops to the floor he will receive a treat from you. You can also try to call him before you move so that he knows what to expect.

Another technique to teach your dog to come when called is the stay or sit command. In this command, your dog must remain sitting down after you have called him. This command is easier to teach because it does not require your dog to jump off the couch. Your dog may need to lie down on the floor before you can call him to you. Be prepared though, because your dog may decide he is too tired to sit down just yet.

One last technique to teach your dog to stop pulling when called is the down command. This command requires that your dog sit or lie down immediately if you issue this command. Once he has stopped moving, you can call him again to you and show him the proper behavior. Your dog will soon realize that he must stop pulling or he will lose his treats and any praise you give him. If he continues to pull, continue using the stay or down commands until he learns what is expected of him.
